Depending on why or for how long you felt this way for, you may or may not have done something as a direct result of your envy. Maybe you went out and bought an even nice car as a way of making yourself feel better – while it may seem stupid, there are a huge number of people who have made such expensive purchases for such petty reasons. However, responding to your jealousy may not always been an irresponsible, senseless thing to do. In some instances, being jealous alerts you to a way of improving your life and increasing your happiness. Moreover, there are times in which some of you may be jealous without even knowing it, and the following example will make that clear.

When Sunday rolls around, many people out there flock to the nearest television to spend the large bulk of the afternoon watching, cheering, yelling and screaming about football, If your local team is playing in a big game, you will be able to enjoy the action from the comforts of the living room of your home. For people with TVs in multiple rooms, you may even have the fortune of turning on the game and watching in your bedroom, never having to even get out from under your sheets! But what if the local team doesn’t interest you? What if you are living in Los Angeles but were born and raised as a Jets fan? How would you be able to spend your Sunday following every down of your beloved NY team? Without a satellite TV connection, you would have to seek out a local bar that had a package that allowed them to show every game being played across the country – such a package that you could not option with your standard cable TV. While you might get up, shower and dress so that you can get over to your local sports bar before kickoff, you may secretly begrudge having to do so when so many other locals fans can watch their home town team play from home. (Not to mention, if you are going to spend all that money on a high definition TV, why shouldn’t you be able to enjoy your Sunday on it?) As a result, while you may never voice your displeasure or give it much consideration at all, you may very well be jealous of your local watering hole.
