Of course you need to know who you are inviting, but you also need to know where your guests might be staying. After all, most conventions will attract attendees that are not from the immediate area. And unless they have family in the area, they will probably go someplace where the employees wear a hotel uniform. That is why, when you are putting together a convention, booking the proceedings at a hotel is so convenient. Not only are the facilities very nice, but it is easy for the attendees to get to their room after the day is done. Since they are in the same building, it can’t be that hard!

If you want to book your convention in a hotel, you will certainly be limiting your options. There are many good convention spots that are not hotels, and those would be crossed off you list if you wanted to strictly stick to hotels. But what you do get with a hotel is one contact point to deal with both convention booking and attendee accommodations. This leaves you to deal with more important things, like remembering your uniform polo on the day of the convention and greeting attendees as they file in for the day. And with the laundry list of things that you have to worry about with a convention, chances are you will have your hands full.

It is also nice to hold your convention in a hotel, since then your guests do not need to leave the premises unless they want to. The convention can run during the day and in the evening the guests can retreat to their rooms, have dinner in the hotel restaurant, or have a drink in the hotel bar. It is all up to them. And if they do not really care to see the chef in his bib apron preparing their meal in the restaurant, room service is always an option. Though many attendees will actually want to leave the hotel and see the city they are staying in, it is a luxury to have the ability to stay in one place for all your needs. Of course, by the time the convention is over, you will probably not want to stay an extra minute in the hotel since you will likely be so tired of planning that you just want to get away. But you still know it is a great option for you when you need it!
